"Fairytale setting and you can customize your details - Loved It! My husband and I had our wedding reception in the Silver Ballroom. It was a blast. Not only does the Silver Ballroom make your fairy tale wedding come true, the staff are great and easy to work with. We had Mexican food and it was DELICIOUS and being able to bring your own alcohol saved us a ton. The bar tender was $150-200 and took great care of my guests. The coordinators took care of everything, I told them what I wanted, showed them how I wanted my center pieces, brought them my own table linens "it comes with white table cloths, but I wanted to add my own special touch" brought them the alcohol and EVERYTHING was set up the way I wanted it. I had no stress at all with planning my wedding reception; they took GREAT care of me."

"A big thank you to Rosalinda and staff for making our wedding reception wonderful! We were searching for a venue large enough for our 250 guests on 10/05/13, and The Grand Capitol Plaza Ballroom was perfect. The Grand is the ballroom on J St between 12th and 13th under the maroon awning, separate from the other Capitol Plaza Ballrooms, and easily housed all of our guests and allowed for the party we were imagining. We sat 8 people at each of the 33 tables and there was still plenty of room to move around and did not feel crowded at all, even with two beer pong tables, a large corner bar to serve many people at once, the DJ’s setup and lights stayed on stage, the buffet dinner table was up the whole time, and the big dance floor remained un-impacted all night so there was no need to move tables once dinner was done. We absolutely loved the size of the venue when we first walked in, and the price was very surprising – at almost half the cost of other golf courses we were looking at, so the decision was easy. Not to mention working with Rosalinda was great, as she has great knowledge on how to host a wedding reception and pays great attention to customer service. We had many ideas on non-traditional things we wanted to do at our reception, and she was very flexible and helpful in making our dreams come true. Also, since there was no event the night before, she let us set up during normal business hours the Friday prior, and remained very helpful in allowing us to pick up a few things the Monday after. And I almost forgot about the food! Everyone loved the appetizers, and we went with tri-tip, chicken marsala, and pasta station. All were delicious, but the chicken marsala was the surprise: we intended to go with chicken parmesana, but when we had our tasting, the marsala was to die for and our guests agreed!
I definitely recommend The Grand to host any event, especially if you need to host a lot of guests and have a great time. Everyone agreed that our wedding reception was fun for everyone, and working with Rosalinda to setup The Grand just the way we wanted accommodated our party perfectly! "Very accommodating and professional – This is one of the most inexpensive places that we found and yet it was just as beautiful as any other place we looked at. We were able to get in at 9:30 in the morning the day of the wedding to get ready in a separate room from our reception and ceremony and they did not charge us. They had set up mirrors, chairs and tables for makeup and food just to accommodate our needs without us even asking. We were also able to get in the day before to do set up of the reception room which no other place we've found would let us do. 

We chose a mexican buffet and the food was great. We had an open bar and they allowed us to bring in our own alcohol to save us money. 

Overall the combination of affordability, beauty and service made our wedding day flawless and we could not be happier with our decision to have our wedding there."

"I had a BLAST! – I've read the other reviews and believe me that was not my experience. Starting with the food... it was DELICIOUS! Like nothing i ever tasted. Service was excelent. Staff was very friendly and the coordinator Rosalinda was very helpful. She made sure everything went smoothly which i was able to enjoy my day. And i believe prices are reasonable, they are not as expensive as The Sterling or the Sheraton. And the ballrooms are gorgeous. I used the Silver ballroom that day and it was very romantic. "Simply GORGEOUS – When I first came in with my wife-to-be to get a tour of their facilities our jaws dropped to the floor.

To say the least it was gorgeous. They have several rooms within their building: the Fraternity Ballroom, the Temple Ballroom, and the Silver Ballroom (and also The Grand located in a different building). We chose The Fraternity because it was most suited for our wedding, and my wife liked the theme and feel.

I can't say anything but good things about the experience. The coordinator and staff were all very accommodating and professional. The elevator was another spotlight, which was very vintage and needed an operator.

If you are shopping around for a place to have your wedding or other event the Capitol Plaza is it. They can tailor the rooms, food, etc. to all your needs at a very fair price."

"It has been about four months since our wedding. I am extremely pleased to say it was really the best day I could have asked for. The staff was so attentive and they helped with every aspect from beginning to end. Their integrity came as a surprise as well. I was recently contacted by their staff letting me know we had over payed them and they were trying to get a refund back to me. This was so nice of them. I am so happy to have trusted them because they went beyond my expectations. I got married June 8, 2013 and the weather was not in our favor. The high was 110 that day, the staff did everything they could to make sure our guests were comfortable and they supplied water. They did an amazing job, I truly did feel special from the beginning to the end. The facilities are amazing as well, the vintage feel is all over the place. It's like walking into a fairy tale book. My husband and the best man are food masters, so it was hard to find food that was good enough for our special day. After reading many reviews on the Capital Plaza food we decided to give them a try as well. Enough said my husband would not let us find any other venue. The food was exquisite and we received many compliments from our guests. Highly recommend this venue, and their staff. Rosalinda and Mary are amazing to work with."
